TJ’s First Steps

My boy has been pulling himself to the upright position for about two months now, and has also been more confident standing on his own feet and cruising along. D and I would take turns to hold his arms and walk with him. So far he has stumbled along rather than walk, like he was drunk. Since TJ was getting more mobile, we thought about getting a walker for him, something that is colourful and motivate him to walk. Rather than getting those round plastic base with a wheeled frame, which are actually quite dangerous for young tots to zip around, I was looking at something that TJ could push while walking and hopefully use it as a ride to scoot around he is older. Got to stretch the lifespan of his toys lah.

One Saturday evening while we were out at Megabox (again?!?) with our friends and their young baby daughter, D and I saw the Fisher Price Stride-To-Ride Lion at the ELC store and were tempted. It was on sale but we hesitated, thinking we could check out the Eco Mama shop to get a second hand one instead.

For TJ’s first b’day, this couple remembered the walker and bought it for him. 😉 Initially TJ ignored the toy and only pressed its nose to see the lights and listen to the sounds. Gradually he would push the toy but “walking” on his knees. 😉 And it’s only recently that TJ kinda figured out how to stand up using the Lion as a support and not be afraid when it moves forward. And the funny thing is two other friends of ours bought him a Playskool walker too for his b’day. Just like the rest of his b’day pressies and other toys, we ration them so that he will not have a toy overload.

In a way, I can’t wait for him to walk and run so that we can kick the soccer ball I had bought for him, but on the other hand, I feel kinda sad that my boy is growing up each day. Haiz, he is no longer a baby liao. 😉

Little Drummer Boy

TJ has been entertaining us with his drumming and he seems pretty serious about it. 😉 Of course he doesn’t spend hours on it, a few minutes is eternity to him. Still this Leapfrog Learn & Groove Alphabet Drum is a good distraction for him.

Thanks to Uncle Arthur, Aunties Joanne, Ho Mei, Wen and Meiyun for this b’day pressie. 😉
