Once we docked at Mersing Jetty last Sunday, the whole lot of us trooped down to one of the Ramly Burger Pushcarts and ordered a Ramly Burger Special each. For those of u who aren’t in the know, Ramly Burgers are quite rare in S’pore (well, at least for me, cos I don’t really know where to get them except from the occasional Pasar Malams aka Night Markets).
What’s so great about Ramly Burgers? According to Wikipedia, “The Ramly Burger is distinctive from most other hamburgers due to the unique way in which the ingredients are served. Rather than the usual method of stacking the ingredients within the bun, the patty in the Ramly Burger is first covered with the desired condiments, then wrapped in a thin layer of egg. The end result is packet-like and enhances the texture of the burger while simultaneously reducing mess from the condiments.”
Anyway, the older chap at the stall wasn’t able to keep track of our orders, and showed us some major attitude and really pissed my friend off. I mean, if we increase our orders, shouldn’t you be happy? Afterall, more orders equal to more earnings, so which part didn’t he understand? If not for the fact that we had ordered, we would have walked off. Most importantly, we are in someone else’s country and we still want to go home without an incident.
In the end that chap messed up our orders, and we were short of one Ramly Burger. I decided to “sacrifice” myself and just took a couple of bites from D’s burger, who incidentally didn’t want to share with me. Hmph.
